Bringing classical music out of the concert hall & into the county
Biglake is an arts collective with festivals, programming and a residence in Prince Edward County, a vibrant destination where culture meets nature.
This rebrand was an imaginative, iterative expression of encountering music within this setting. With a wordmark inspired by the forms of the violin (a nod to the founder, an award-winning violinist), the design system reflected their desire to foster an environment where artists and ensembles had the freedom to explore, collaborate and perform in unexpected ways.
Stacked Wordmark
Typography — Ayer, an elegant yet playful display headline is paired with Archivo, a clean, variable width typeface.
Colour — 3 main palettes were developed, inspired by the county and its surrounding nature—lake, forest, and town. Each has a bright accent colour to represent the spark of imagination and unexpectedness, paired with 3 more neutral tones to create harmony and balance.
The details within the wordmark form the basis for a variety of expressive patterns that can be used in layout and brand applications.
